Maha kumbhmela

Invitation to the Maha puskaram by Andhra Pradesh cm N Chandhra Babu Naidu
Be a part of Godavari Maha Pushkaram 2015
In our culture, we have always treated rivers with divinity. From Ganga to Godavari, rivers have played a significant role in our lives. From developing a spiritual connect to being great highways of travel and commerce, rivers have been with us in this journey called life.
Now, it is our chance to pay respects to these rivers. River Godavari, has now given us a chance to pay our respects, in the form of Maha Pushkaram.
Godavari has always been an important part of Andhra Pradesh. The very name reflects the vibrant culture of South India. The River has been a lifeline to millions of people, has witnessed great battles fought on the Telugu land and a myriad of challenges, changes and developments in the areas it traverses.
Known as Dakshina Ganga, millions of people worship the River in the form of Godavari Mata, seeking her blessings. Godavari Maha Pushkaram is one such festival that occurs once every 144 years, corresponding to the 12th recurrence of the 12-year Godavari Pushkaram cycle.
Our government is celebrating this on the lines of 'Maha Kumbhmela'. We have made elaborate arrangements from building new Pushkar ghats to ensuring pilgrims' safety. We are also going to have colourful events like the Sky Lantern Festival, Laser Shows, Food Festival, joy ride in a helicopter, among others.
Through this post, I request each one of you to follow rules while taking a dip in Godavari. We must remember that civil behaviour is very important.
Since we treat the River with utmost divinity, let us not dirty the River by using soaps, shampoos or anything that causes trouble to other pilgrims or pollutes the River.
I request you to keep the Pushkar Ghats, buses, trains clean. Do not litter/throw trash on the roads or in any places. We have set up dustbins for trash disposal. Overcrowding of boats should be avoided. I also appeal to you to not throw any materials, used for worship or rituals, in the river.
Pilgrims travelling in their own vehicles should beware of the speed, without causing harm to fellow pilgrims. We have set up a Central Public Address System that will update you with day-to-day announcements on Pujas, events, etc. We also have control rooms that will help pilgrims.
To make this festival a celebration of our culture and a reflection of our state's development, I want each one of you to be part of this spectacular experience from July 14 to July 25.
I invite people from across the world to experience this massive celebration of culture. Come, connect with Godavari by visiting Andhra Pradesh. Your presence matters to us.  +Google  +Aravind Babu  +sriharsha korlapati  +sisir molakalapalli  +Blogger  +StumbleUpon
