Indian philosopher and statesman Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was among the recipients of the first Bharat Ratna in 1954, along with C Rajagopalachari and CV Raman. Raja Ram Mohan Roy,(22 May 1772 – 27 September, 1833) the great social reformer & nationalist, was known as The Father of the Bengal Renaissance. Raja Ram Mohan Roy was the founder of the Brahmo Samaj. His influence was apparent in the fields of politics, public administration and education as well as religion. He is best known for his efforts to establish the abolishment of the practice of sati, the Hindu funeral practice in which the widow was compelled to sacrifice herself in her husband’s funeral pyre. It was he who first introduced the word "Hinduism" into the English language in 1816. For his diverse activities and contributions to society, Raja Ram Mohan Roy is regarded as one of the most important and contentious figures in the Bengali renaissance. His efforts to protect Hinduism and India earned him the title "The Father of the Indian Renaissance".

The History of Julius Maggi MAGGI owes its name to founder Julius Maggi (1846 - 1912), entrepreneur and inventor of the first product to bear the brand - MAGGI Soup Seasoning. Born in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, Julius took over a hammer mill from his father in 1869. At the time the milling industry was in crisis so Julius decided to open up new areas of production. He got in touch with physician Fridolin Schuler who had a concept for improving the nutritional content of meals for the labouring classes by making packaged foods out of milled pulses or legumes. Together they began product development and after two years of experimentation, the first industrially produced leguminous flour was put on the Swiss market in 1884. When the expected market breakthrough failed to occur, Julius went back to the drawing board and created MAGGI ready-to-use soups in in 1886, then launched MAGGI flavouring later in the year.
