Good Governance in Andhra state

A great step towards good governance :-

Lighting the way forward for Renewable Energy
I'm proud to share that despite Andhra Pradesh starting off on a gloomy note with a power deficit, we have been successful in bringing down the deficit from 22 million units per day to zero within 100 days of government.
The Government of India's "24X7 Power For All" has proved to be a big boost for our state. We are supplying 24X7 power to all domestic, commercial and industrial consumers apart from 7 hours of supply to agriculture sector.
That apart, the Government of India has allocated 304 MW from NTPC Jhajjhar and 50MW from NPCL Kudankulam.
We have gradually progressed from a power deficit to a power surplus state. We are now on par with States like Gujarat and Chhattisgarh as far as availability is concerned. We have also built in a spinning reserve of 5 per cent.
Taking a step towards green energy, our state is promoting renewable energy sources. Last year alone, AP Discoms have procured 48,233 Million Units (MU) out of which energy procured from non-conventional energy (NCE) sources was 2,544 Million Units (Wind – 1,545 MU, Solar – 159 MU, Others – 840 MU).
To achieve the targeted solar and wind capacity addition, the state government has released new Solar and Wind policies which provide various incentives to solar and wind developers like cross-subsidy surcharge exemption, transmission and wheeling charges exemption, 100% banking of energy, electricity duty exemption, single-window mechanism, natural calamities
AP Discoms have already signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with solar developers for a cumulative capacity of 619 MW with lower first year tariff of Rs.5.25 per unit. We have also extended the single-window clearance mechanism to enable rapid commissioning of these solar projects.
The state has plans to add 5,030 MW of solar and 4,150 MW of wind power during the next 5 years.
For energy efficiency, we have distributed 41.3 lakh LEDs to domestic households in Guntur, Ananthapur and Srikakulam districts. Further, 90,000 conventional street lights have been replaced with LED street lights in Visakhapatnam. We will cover all the district and urban local bodies by March 2016.
I'm optimistic about the future of renewable energy and t is becoming cheaper and more efficient. I believe it is time to choose renewable solutions.
In promoting renewable energy, we can end our reliance on fossil fuels while creating new economic opportunities in a cleaner, safer and healthier world. I'm confident that this will start with Andhra Pradesh which will lead by example.
