Microsoft Windows turns 30 :a visual history
November 20, 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of the very first version of Windows -- Windows 1.0. On this day, the operating system which now runs on over 75% desktop computers worldwide made its debut, two years after the initial announcement. Windows was first announced in 1983.
Microsoft had completed 25 years in India.
Windows 1.0 required a minimum of 256 kilobytes (KB), two double-sided floppy disk drives, and a graphics adapter card
Windows 1.0 also set the stage for the mouse. If you used MS-DOS then you could only type in commands, but with Windows 1.0 you picked up a mouse and moved windows around by pointing and clicking
Windows XP is Microsoft's most popular operating system ever.
Some Windows versions which reportedly couldn't get released were: Windows Nashville; Windows Cairo and Windows Neptune.
